Simulating a pitch-day experience for Year 11s at top UK secondary schools
A group of top UK secondary schools were keen to explore sustainability in entrepreneurship and develop critical problem-solving, negotiating, and pitching skills.
CATALYST educators worked with groups of students from each school to produce a “A case to end waste” business plan. Over two months, students from Harrow, Monkton Combe, Francis Holland, and Winchester College, learnt how to define a problem, develop a go-to market plan, and design a convincing pitch for their chosen solution.
Culminating in a pitch day in Winchester, 45 students presented their projects to a panel of experts, alongside peers, teachers, parents, and friends.
Students gained experience collaborating and working in teams to overcome complex problems. Through the workshops and pitching event, students developed critical thinking and communication skills, while also gaining and insight into the world of start-ups.
